Joplin, Mo. -- Nicole Green won the weight throw and the Missouri Southern women had three top three finishes in day one of the Fazolis/Baymont Inn Invitational at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.
Green won the weight throw with a distance of 52-7.50, while Kylie Cornman placed 12th in the event. Lindsey Bragg was hird in the long jump wih a distance of 17-9.50, while Brandy Simpson was seventh with a distance of 17-4.00. Gayla Booth, Rachel Olinyk and Jasmin Hughes placed 12th, 14th and 21st, respectively in the event.
Kelly McKay placed third in the 200m wiht a time of 25.66, while Hughes was fourth a 25.72. Bragg and JeAnna Sheppard placed 13th and 14th, while Alex Close and Tia Cook placed 17th and 19th, respectively.
Hughes qualified for the finals of the 60m dash wih a time of 7.90, while Simpson, Sheppard and Lisa Vengels all qualified in the 60m hurdles.
The Lions will compete in day two of the meet tomorrow, beginning at 10:30 am.
