McKay's solid performance helps Lions at Nebraska

Lincoln, Neb. -- Missouri Southern senior Kelly McKay raced to sixth place finishes in both the 200 and 400 meters, as well as guiding the 4x400m relay team to a sixth place finish in the final day of the University of Nebraska/Holiday Inn Invite today in Lincoln. 

McKay ran a 25.69 in the 200m and a 59.21 in the 400m on the day. Jasmin Hughes placed eighth in the 200m with a time of 26.00, while Tia Cook was 28th in the event. Lindsey Bragg was 25th in the 400m. 

Hughes placed 8th in the 60m dash with a time of 8.00 flat, while Lisa Vengels was 11th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.43. Vengels was fourth in the seeded high jump with a leap of five feet, four and a quarter inch. 

The Lions ran two teams in the 4x400 meter relay with the team of Hughes, Alex Close, McKay and Sagan Graskemper placing sixth with a time of 4:05.40. The team of Olga Bulgurova, Codi Fritchie, Kasey Meadows and Elizabeth Corcoran placed 11th in a time of 4:21.64. 

Graskemper, Meadows and Corcoran placed 15th, 20th, and 21st, respectively in the 600 yard run, while Sydney Haase was 8th in the pole vault with a height of 10 feet, 10 inches. Bragg was ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 34-7.25, while Nicole Green placed seventh in the shot with a distance of 43-09.00 and Kylie Cornman was 11th with a distance of 40-10.50. 

The Lions will be back an action next weekend with a split squad going to both Iowa State and Central Missouri.
