Topeka, Kan. - Returning to action after more than a week off, the Missouri Southern Lions soccer team dropped a 2-0 match at Washburn tonight at Yager Stadium.
The Lions (3-6-4, 2-3-3 MIAA) were unable to register a goal on the evening despite a balanced effort from the offense as six different Lions registered shots, including three on goal. Goalkeeper Beth Hammons played all 90 minutes in goal making seven saves, including five in the first half.
Less than ten minutes away from going into halftime scoreless, the Ichabods (9-6-1, 6-2-1) struck first in the 36th minute as Bailey Wobig found the back of the net from five yards out to give Washburn a 1-0 edge. The 'Bods Brianna Ament would add a second goal on a cross in the 51st minute to secure the win.
The Lions continue their road trip in Kansas on Sunday traveling to Emporia State (7-6-2, 3-3-2 MIAA) to take on the Hornets at 2 p.m. at Emporia High School.
