Edmond, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern soccer team ended its season today with a 4-0 loss at Central Oklahoma in the first round of the 2012 MIAA Women's Soccer Tournament.
Southern (5-10-3) ran into a tough defensive team in Central Oklahoma that limited the Lions to just five shots and one corner kick.
The Bronchos (15-1-3) had 21 shots, nine on goal, and were led by goals from four individual players. Goalkeeper Megan Burke had a shutout in the win.
Megan Stueve led the Lions with two shots, while Southern got a shot each from Kelsey Haist, Alicia Vonderheid and Hannah Ishmael. Abby Risner started in goal for the Lions and had two saves, while Beth Hammons played the second half and made three stops.
Stueve ends her career among the top five in program history in goals, points and shots. Her 23 goals rank third all-time, while her 50 points and 113 shots come in fourth and fifth respectively in program history.
Central Oklahoma moves on to face Fort Hays on Friday at 6 p.m. in the second semifinal from Warrensburg, Mo. The first semifinal matchup will be Central Missouri taking on Northeastern State at 3 p.m.
