Joplin, Mo. -- The 15th ranked Central Missouri Jennies (6-1-0, 0-0-0 MIAA) came into Joplin today and left the Missouri Southern Lions (0-6-1, 0-1-0 MIAA) with a 3-0 loss.
The Jennies struck first in the 19th minute as Kristin Bright scored off of a corner kick from fellow Jennie Carly Stanley. Central Missouri would then get an own goal from the Lions to go up 2-0 in the 29th minute and it would stay that way up to halftime.
The Lions were out shot by the Jennies 10-1 in the first half with a 4-0 difference in coner kicks favoring Central Missouri. Southern then took five shots in the second half led by senior Lindi Spilchen with two.
The Lions will be back in action Sunday Oct. 2 as they travel to Emporia, Kan. to take on the Hornets in a 2pm showdown.
The next home match for Southern will be Oct. 8 as they welcome Fort Hays State to Hal Bodon Field for the first time. That game is scheduled for 11am.
