Lions Strike First, Truman Prevails

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Women's Soccer team (0-5-1, 0-1-0 MIAA) struck in the third minute of the game but Truman State (2-3-2, 1-0-0 MIAA) scored to even the match and force overtime before winning on a golden goal.

Senior midfielder Shannon Kuhn scored her fouth goal of the season, second goal on a free kick, in the third minute of the match.  Truman's Trisha Shoemaker would then tie the game in the 21st minute on an unassisted goal and the Bulldogs would take home the win on a Kelsey Twellman free kick in the 95th minute.

Senior goalie Randi Russell allowed one goal on two shots and record one save for the Lions, while sophomore goalie Abby Risner recored five saves on 14 shots and allowed the winning goal.  Jayne Grisham for Truman allowed one goal on seven shots and recorded two saves.

The Lions will be back in action on Saturday as they host the Jennies of Central Missouri game time is set for 4pm.
