Austin, Texas -- The fourth ranked Hilltoppers of St. Edward's University (3-0) downed the Missouri Southern Lions (0-3) 2-0 Friday evening in Austin, Texas.
Southern managed five shots against St. Edward's, all five were taken by different players. Seniors Lindi Spilchen and Brianna McKenzie, junior forward Candis Clark, and freshmen Kelsey Haist and Samantha Zoltanski took the five shots.
St. Edward's got a goal in the 10th minute from forward Rachel Murray and an own goal in the 36th minute to round out the scoring.
Senior goalie Randi Russell (0-2) recorded four saves in the first 45 minutes of play and suffered the loss
Sophomore goalkeeper Abby Risner shut out the Hilltoppers in the second half of play with four saves as well.
The Lions will be back in action Sunday as they travel to San Antonio, Texas to take on the Rattlers of St. Mary's University. Kick off for that match is scheduled for 11am.
