Cancer Awareness Night scheduled for February 4

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern Athletics Department has announced the 5th Annual Cancer Awareness Night at MSSU basketball will be held on Saturday night, February 4 as the Lions host Missouri Western in a 5:30/7:30 pm doubleheader.

The Lions' women will again wear commemorative pink uniforms.  Those jerseys are available for bids on the Lions website at www.mssulions.com.  The online portion of the auction will continue until February 3.  Bids will continue to be taken the night of the game in a silent auction format.

All money collected through the pink jersey auction and through donations taken at the entrances will be distributed to the American Cancer Society and the Hope 4 You Breast Cancer Foundation.  The night will feature a halftime speech from 5-year breast cancer survivor Pat Lipira, special recognition of cancer survivors with help from Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, and informative messages pertaining to breast and prostate cancer prevention and treatment.

The MSSU Cancer Awareness Night is sponsored by Freeman Health System and St. John's Mercy.
