Four Lions named to Southeastern Regional Invitational All-Tournament softball team

Joplin, Mo. - Four Missouri Southern Lions softball players were named to the Southeastern Regional Invitational All-Tournament team today, as announced by host school Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

Freshman centerfielder Alana Hester, junior pitcher Haley Pypes, junior rightfielder Shelby Romines, and sophomore second baseman Brooke Swadley were the four Lions named to the team.

All four Lions had great opening weekend's as Southern went 3-1 defeating Ouachita Baptist 10-2 and Arkansas Tech 5-4 in nine innings on Friday. The Lions would play two more Saturday falling to Drury 4-3 in their first game before wrapping up the weekend defeating Northeastern State 4-2 in eight innings.

Hester would have a great debut weekend as a Lion going 7-15 in the four games with a triple and six singles while scoring six runs and stealing four bases.  Pypes would also have a great weekend as she went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA throwing 12 innings giving up only six hits and two runs stiking out ten. 

Romines also had a monster opening weekend going 7-15 hitting for the cycle on the weekend with two sinlges, three doubles, a triple and a three-run home run over Northeastern State. She drove in a team-high six runs while scoring three runs, while totaling 15 bases.  Rounding out the all-tournament selections for the Lions was Swadley, who went 6-12 scoring four runs while driving in a pair.

The Lions return to action Friday when they travel to Bentonville, Ark. to take part in the Seven State Classic playing Arkansas-Monticello at 10 am and Oklahoma Christian at 2 pm at Bentonville High School.
