Fayetteville, Ark. - The Missouri Southern men's cross country team placed third in the college division today at the 2013 Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Eric Schott was the Lions top finisher today as he raced through the 8k course in a time of 25:00.9 and placed 14th in the college division. Jake Benton was the Lions second finisher finishing 25th with a time of 25:18.4. Colton Wooldridge finished 86th completing the course in 26:21.3.
The next three Lions finishers were within a half-a-second of one another as Ryan Jackson finished 97th in 26:28.9, Adrian Todd finished 100th in 26:29.1 and Andrew Webster finished 102nd in 26:29.4. Finally, William Rush finished 117th overall in 26:41.1. There were 327 runners who completed the course.
The Lions finished with 112 team points, placing third in the college division. Augustana won the team title with 55 points, while West Texas A&M was second with 80 points. Southern was third, followed by New Mexico Highlands, Iowa Central CC, Harding, Cameron, Northwest Missouri, Tarleton State and Oklahoma Christian round out the top ten.
The Lions will be back in action October 12, traveling to Rolla, Mo. to compete in the Jackling Jocks Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T.
