Kansas City, Mo. -- Missouri Southern sophomore cross country runner Eric Schott has been named the MIAA men's cross country Athlete of the Week as announced by the league office today.
Schott, a 5-8 native of Cape Girardeau, Mo., was third individually in the 24th running of the Southern Stampede last weekend. The Lions were the top Division II team in the race and trailed only Division I Tulsa in the standings. He was the top Division II runner at the event finishing the 8K course with a 25:08.35 time.
The Lions defeated three other Division II ranked opponents in No. 14 Eastern New Mexico, No. 16 East Central and No. 29 Alabama-Huntsville.
He and the Lions will be off this week, but will be back in action on September 29 running at the Oklahoma State Jamboree.
