Pittsburg, Kan. -- Missouri Southern freshman Jeff Fraley won both the 200m and the 400m at the Pittsburg State Gorilla Classic today in Pittsburg.
Fraley hit a provisional in the 200m with a time of 21.23, while he was just two tenths of a second from breaking a school record in the 400m with a time of 48.21. Anthony Price and Clark Tanksley placed 8th and 10th in the 400m, while Price was 11th in the 200m.
Quinton Smith and Jazz Allen placed fourth and fifth in the 110m hurdles, whiel Allen was fourth and Smith 19th in the 400m hurdles. The Lions 4x100m relay team placed second, while the 4x400m team placed fifth.
Clark Tanksley placed third in the high jump, while Jayce Thomas placed fifth. Michael Juergens picked up a provisional in the pole vault as he placed second with a height of 15-9. John Lowe was fifth in the event, while Thomas placed sixth.
Taylor McClelland and Darion Boure placed fifth and sixth in the long jump, while Thomas and Tanksley placed ninth and tenth in theevent. Boure and McClelland were fourth and sixth in the triple jump, while Thomas placed seventh. Boure and McClelland's distances were both long enough for a provisional, but were wind-aided and will not count.
Seth Hackney and Dustin Green placed third and fourth in the shot put with distances of 52-08.25 and 52-00.50, respectively, while Nicklas Polizzi picked up a provisional in the discus with a distance of 171 feet, placing third. Dustin Green was fifth in the discus, while placing fourth in the hammer.
The Lions will be back in action with three different events next week, going to the KU Relays, the UCM Relays and then finishing the week off at the University of Arkansas.
