Shot put hilights day two of MSSU Lion Open

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern's Dustin Green and Seth Hackney finished first and second in the shot put and both hit strong provisional qualifying marks in day two of the MSSU Lion Open. 

Green hit a mark of 55-09.75 and won the shot put. Hackney had hit his mark of 55-09.00 just prior to Green hitting his. The two marks rank seventh and eighth this season in Division II and are tops in the MIAA. 

In other action, Clark Tanksley won the 400m dash with a time of 51:03, while Anthony Price, Dustin Roofener and Blake Arehart were sixth, 19th and 21st in the event. Jeff Fraley finished fourth in the finals of the 60m dash with a time of 6.99, while Quentin Smith and Jazz Allen placed fourth and fifth in the 60m hurdles. 

Eric Schott and Andrew Webster finished third and fourth in the mile with times of 4:25.98 and 4:26.08. In the pole vault, John Lowe hit a career-high with a provisional of 16-00.75 to place third. Scott Bertelli and Daniel Fair were fifth and eighth, while Jarret Keller and Jayce Thomas placed 10th and 13th in the event. 

Tanksley was second in the high jump with a provisional of 6-11, while Darion Boure picked up a provisional in the triple jump with a distance of 46-11. Taylor McClelland and Jacob Rowe were 6th and 8th in the triple. 

D'Andrew McKenzie and Taylor Kramer were 15th and 16th in the 600y, while Alex Mason and Colton Wooldridge placed 13th and 18th in the 800m. 

The Lions will be back in action next weekend, traveling to Nebraska on Friday and Saturday.
