Men's track competes in first day of MSSU Invitational

Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern freshman Jeff Fraley qualified for the finals of the 60m dash and finished second in the 200m as the Lions competed in day one of the MSSU Invitational at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center. 

Fraley ran a 7.03 in the prelims of the 60m dash and qualified as the fifth-fastest time in the event. He will race in the finals tomorrow. Fraley also ran a 22.22 and placed first in his heat to finish second overall in the 200m. 

In other action, the Lions went 2, 3 and 5 in the 3k with Colton Wooldridge, Alex Mason and Sam Pouge. Quinton Smith qualified for the finals of the 60m hurdles, while Jazz Allen nearly missed out on qualifying for the event. 

Darion Boure placed eighth in the long jump with a distance of 22-09.75, while Clark Tanksley was ninth with a distance of 21-11.75. Jayce Thomas and Taylor McClelland placed 11th and 12th in the event. 

In the weight throw, Dustin Green was second with a distance of 51-10, while Seth Hackney was eighth with a distance of 44-06. 

The Lions will be back in action tomorrow morning with the final day of the event.
