Aki Nummela raises NCAA provisional with 6th place finish in 1,500 at Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. -- Missouri Southern senior Aki Nummela improved his provisional qualifying time in a tune-up race tonight at the Arkansas Twilight in Fayetteville.

Nummela moved up to seventh place nationally in the 1,500 meters with a sixth place overall finish in a time of 3:48.36. The time is tops in the MIAA this season and is just two seconds off the school record Brennan Benkert set last year.

Nummela and the rest of the men's track and field team will be back in action tomorrow and Sunday at the 2011 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Emporia.
