Lions men take home two titles at Pittsburg State

Pittsburg, Kan. - The Missouri Southern men's track and field team picked up two titles today at the Gorilla Classic hosted by Pittsburg State University. 

Kevin Wright (400m hurdles) and Andrew Wright 400m dash both took home the titles in both their respective events. Kevin won in a time of 53.92, just two hundredths of a second off a provisional qualifying time, and Ricardo Greer placed 10th in the event. Andrew won in a time of 49.13, while Clark Tanksley placed seventh in the event. 

Corey Reynolds was second in the high jump with a height of 6-7, while Seth Matlock placed fifth. John Lowe and Michael Juregens placed second and third in the pole vault, both with a height of 15-5, while Jarret Keller was 11th. Tanksley was eighth in the long jump with a distance of 22-10. 

Andrew Wright placed 5th in the 200m, while Dustin Roofener was 16th and Kevin Wright was sixth in the 110m hurdles in a time of 15.41. Tyler Burgess was 12th in the hammer throw, while the Lions' 4x400m relay team placed second in a time of 3:18.71. Caleb Carney, Alex Mason, and Sam Pogue placed 22nd, 30th and 39th in the 800m. 

Southern will be back in action this week in three different events, taking part in the KU Relays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while also taking part in events at Central Missouri and Arkansas on Saturday.
