Fayetteville, Ark. -- Missouri Southern pole vaulter Michael Juergens narrowly missed a provisional, but took home the title in the pole vault at the University of Arkansas today as the Missouri Southern men's track and field team opened up its indoor season.
Juergens hit a height of 15 feet, seven inches and won the pole vault in a jump off. Raymond Woldtvedt placed fifth in the event with a height of 14-7.25.
In other action, Clark Tanksley, Taylor McClelland and Jacob Rowe placed third, fourth and fifth in the long jump, while Rowe placed fifth in the triple jump, as well. Tanksley was third in the high jump with a height of 6-8.75, while Corey Reynolds and Seth Matlock placed fourth and fifth, respectively. Both Tanksley's and Reynolds marks in the high jump were provisional heights.
The Lions will be back in action next weekend, traveling to Nebraska to compete at the University of Nebraska on Friday and Saturday.
