Lions pick up three provisionals at Arkansas

Fayetteville, Ark. -- The Missouri Southern men's track and field team picked up three provisionals in the final day of the John McDonnell Invitational at the University of Arkansas. 

Aki Nummela placed tenth in the 1,500 meter invite, but was the top D-II time and earned a provisional with a school-record time of 3:50.06. Corey Reynolds and Chris Brown finished second and third in the high jump as both cleared provisional heights of 6-08.75. 

In the 400 meters, D'Angelo Wood placed third with a time of 49.41, while Andrew Wright, DJ Bland and Jacob Khan placed 7th, 8th and 10th, respectively. Kevin Wright was eighth in the 110 meter hurdles, while placing 13th in the 400 meter hurdles. Andrew Wright and Khan placed sixth and eighth in the 200m invite. 

James Coleman was fourth in the discus with a distance of 167-04, while Taylor McClelland was sixth in the long jump and Patrick Hester was 4th in the triple jump. Seth Hackney, Kyle Hancock and Coleman placed 3rd, 4th, and 5th in the shot put. 

The Lions' 4x400 meter relay team placed 8th, while Corey Shumate was 7th in the pole vault with a height of 15-7. 

Southern will be back in action on April 14th and 15th at the KU Relays, then heading to the Central Missouri Relays on April 16.
