Warrensburg, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team shot a final round of 299 and finished tied for ninth at the 2013 Central Missouri Heart of America Invitational hosted at KEth Memorial Golf Course.
Freshman Taylor Lansford shot a final-round 72 to finish tied for 16th with a seven-over 220. Senior Andrew Maier shot a 221 and finished tied for 24th, while junior Ryan Buerk finsihed with a 224 and tied for 31st. Sophomore Ethan Hutcheson finished with a score of 232, while sophomroe Garrett Roberts finished with a two-day 244.
Central Missouri's 'A' team won the team title with a score of 865, 14 strokes in front of second-place Arkansas Tech. Washburn was third, just three strokes behind ATU, while Northeastern STate and Southeastern Oklahoma round out the top five scores. Winona State, Fort Hays, Nebraska-Kearney, Southern and Lindenwood placed 6-10th, respectively.
The event was the second MIAA points event of the season and after two events, Central Missouri sits just a half a point in front of second-place Nebraska-Kearney. The Lions sit in 8th place after two events. Complete standings are listed below.
The Lions will be back in action on Oct. 21 and 22 when they travel to Arkansas to compete in the Arkansas-Monticello Fall Classic held at The Greens at North Hills.
