Kingston, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern golf team placed fifth today after the final round of action in the Texoma Championship, hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort.
The Lions were led by a fourth place finish from junior Ryan Buerk. Buerk shot an opening round 79 and followed that up with a round two score of 70, before shooting a 77 today to finish with a 54-hole total of 226. Senior Ryan Russell shot a score of 232 to finish 15th, while senior Andrew Maier shot a 236 to finish tied for 21st.
Southeastern Oklahoma won the team title with a 54-hole total of 904. Paris Junior College placed second, trailing SEOSU by 18 strokes. Southern Arkansas was third, followed by Rogers State and Southern to round out the top five. Southern Nazarene was sixth, followed by East Central and Arkansas-Monticello to round out the team scores.
The Lions will be back in action next week for their final fall tournament and second MIAA points event of the season, traveling to Warrensburg to compete in the Central Missouri Invite at Keth Memorial Golf Course.
