Southern golf in third place after day one of Texoma Championship
Kingston, Okla. -- The Missouri Southern golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of play today at the 2013 Texoma Championship held at Chickasaw Pointe Golf Resort.
The Lions were in fifth place after round one as Southern shot a 312. They followed that up with a second-round 303 and are in third place going into the final round tomorrow.
Senior Ryan Russell was tied for first after round one and is tied for second after round two. He shot an opening round even par 72, and followed that up with a 76 in round two for a first-day score of 148.
Junior Ryan Buerk shot a 79 in round one, but followed that up with a two-under 70 in round two to finish the day with a 149 and tied for fourth place. Senior Andrew Maier shot a two-round score of 154, while sophomore Skyler Arbuckle shot a 166 and freshman Taylor Lansford finished with a 173.
Southeastern Oklahoma shot a two-round 608 and is in first place, five strokes in front of Paris Junior College. The Lions are third, seven strokes off the lead, while Southern Arkansas and Rogers state are tied for fourth. Southern Nazarene is sixth, followed by East Central and Arkansas-Monticello round out the team scores.
The Lions will be back at it tomorrow morning for the final round.
