Southern golf in 6th place after day one at 2012 MIAA Golf Championships
Smithville, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team is in sixth place after day one of the 2012 MIAA Golf Championships held at the Outlaw Course at Paradise Point.
Southern played two rounds today, shooting a 312 and a 305 as a team in each round. Ryan Russell led the way with a two-round 151, good for 13th place. Gill Williams shot a 154, while Adam Johnson and Ben Knight both carded a 156. Jared Essary shot a two-round 159.
Washburn is in first after day one, followed by Central Missouri, Pittsburg State, Fort Hays and Missouri Western rounding out the top five teams. Southern is sixth, followed by Lincoln and Southwest Baptist.
The Lions will finish out the two-day tournament tomorrow with a final 18 holes.
