Lions in fourth after first day at MIAA Golf Tournament

Kansas City, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern golf team is in fourth place after the first two rounds at the 2010 MIAA Golf Tournament at Tiffany Greens Golf Course in Kansas City. 

Junior Stephen Boyd is tied for third place after shooting a one-over par 145 through the first two rounds. He shot a 73 in round one today and followed that up with a 72 in the second round. 

Junior Jamie Voegeli is tied for 12th with a two-round 153, while junior Seve Smith shot a 78 in both rounds to finish with 156 after day one. Seniors Taylor Griffith, David Eddy and Chris Needham shot a 160, 162 and 162, respectively, while sophomore Andy Hogenmiller finished with a 163. 

Central Missouri has a commanding 20 stroke lead over second place Washburn after two rounds. The Mules are seven strokes over par as a team with a total of 583. The Ichabods are in second with a 603, while Southwest Baptist is in third at 605. The Lions have a two-round total of 615 and are followed by Fort Hays (625), Truman (628), Pittsburg State (632) and Missouri Western (641). 

The Mules' Justin Yoder is four-under par after two rounds and is in first place by four strokes over second place Brad Nipper of SBU and has a five stroke over Southern's Boyd. 

The Lions will be back at it tomorrow morning with the final round of the tournament.
