Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern sophomore fullback Giresse Forchu has been selected first-team Capital One Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) the association announced today.
Forchu's name now goes on the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration. Forchu carries a perfect 4.00 GPA in biology at Missouri Southern. To be considered for the honor, a player must maintain at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, while participating in at least 50 percent of his team's games. Freshman and first-year transfers are not eligible. Forchu was competing with players from Schools in the Division II Super Region Three (Great American Conference, MIAA, Northern Sun and Great Northwest).
Forchu has 366 yards and five touchdowns rushing this season on 95 carries. He has helped the Lions to 30 rushing touchdowns (two off of the school record set last season) and 2,760 yards on the ground which is 283 yards from last year's school record that he helped set.
The Lions will be in action this weekend as Southern plays host to Lindenwood-Belleville in the final home game of the season. It will be senior day for the ten seniors on this year's roster.
