Joplin, Mo. -- Missouri Southern senior defensive tackle Brandon Williams has been named one of the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) National Division II Defensive Players of the Week, the publication announced today.
Williams had one of his best games of his career this week against Southwest Baptist. He had a career-high 11 tackles, with three tackles behind the line of scrimmage for a loss of 18 yards, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a quarterback hurry. The two sacks gives him 22.5 for his career, just a half a sack from tying Kent Shorten for the school record in the category.
Williams was one of seven nationally honored by the publication. He and the Lions will be back in action this Saturday as Southern travels to Warrensburg to take on Central Missouri at 1:30 pm.
