2011- In his first season in a Lion uniform, Venson finished his junior season fourth on the team in rushing with 188 yards on 34 attempts and 1 touchdown against Pittsburg State. In addition he had 7 catches for 50 yards and appeared in all 10 of the Lions' games.  Had a season-high 59 yards on 9 carries vs. Pittsburg State.

Prior to Southern - Venson comes to Southern after two seasons at the College of DuPage ... while there, he broke a school record when he recorded a rushing, receiving and a special teams touchdown all in the same game ... he was the team captain and the special teams MVP ... He also helped his team to a bowl win in the Graphic Edge Bowl where they defeated Coffeyville CC ... Venson prepped at Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn, Ill., where he started three years on the football team for coach Chad Heflet and the Hilltoppers ... while there, he was the conference Player of the Year, while earning All-Conference status twice ... he was an All-State pick, as well ... Also a two-year starter on the basketball court, Venson was an All-Conference selection in that sport ... He helped his football team to two trips to the state semi-finals, while helping his basketball team to a trip to the down-state tournament in 2007 and a regionals appearance in both 2008 and 2009. 

Personal - Venson is the son of Elmer Venson and Tammie Byrd ... He is a criminal justice major at Southern.
