A four-year letterwinner, Hymer was a three-time All-Big Eight Academic  first-team member, while also being named first-team All-Conference on both the offensive and defensive sides of the line ... He was also named a first-team All-District pick on both the offensive and defensive lines ... Also a wrestler, Hymer was a state qualifier and helped his team to a state championship in his junior year and a district title his senior year.
