Threatt named d2football.com National Special Teams Player of the Week
Joplin, Mo. -- Already named the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week, Ne'Ronte Threatt has been named d2football.com's National Special Teams Player of the Week, the organization announced today.
Threatt (5-9, 175) is a Texarkana, Texas native and prepped at Pleasant Grove High School. He had a banner day against SBU when he returned three kickoffs for an average of 43 yards per kick, including a 90-yard return for a touchdown late in the game. He also led the team in rushing with 79 yards on five carries, had four receptions for 94 yards and two scores and had 302 all-purpose yards in the game.
He and the Lions will be back in action this Saturday when Southern plays host to fourth-ranked Northwest Missouri at Fred G. Hughes Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 pm and the Lions will celebrate their ten departing seniors.
