Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern baseball team split a double-header today against Pittsburg State, winning the opener 4-1, but dropping the nightcap 5-2.
Southern (8-5, 4-5 MIAA) got a strong pitching performance from Drew Noble in game one, as he went six and a third of the seven-inning game, striking out four and allowing just one run. Bo Bergen and Stephen Vaughn struck out a batter each in relief as Vaughn picked up a save.
After going down 1-0 in the first, Southern fought back with a pair of runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings.
In game two, Pittsburg State (6-3, 4-3 MIAA) scored two runs in the third and added another in the sevent and two more insurance runs in the ninth.
The Lions had a game scheduled for tomorrow against Nebraska-Kearney, but that game has been cancelled.
