Missouri Southern announces new radio partner

Joplin, Mo. -- The Missouri Southern
Athletics Department is pleased to announce it will once again
partner with Zimmer Radio Group to provide radio play-by-play
coverage throughout the 2010-2011 school year, and that there will
be a new radio home for MSSU football and men’s basketball
games.
All Southern football and men’s basketball games will
now be heard on the FM signal of Big Dog, 97.9. All Lions
women’s basketball games will again be carried on AM 1230 The
Talker. Zimmer will also stream the radio broadcast of all
Lions games free of charge online. Fans will be able to
access the online broadcasts by logging on to the MSSU Athletics
website at www.mssulions.com .
“We are very excited about the move to Big Dog and what
that increased FM signal strength means for our fans,” said
Kevin Greim, Assistant Athletics Director and play-by-play voice of
MSSU sports. “The increased coverage area of Big Dog
means more of our fans will be able to enjoy Lions games on the
radio. It shows the strength of the relationship we have with
Zimmer and their commitment to MSSU Athletics.”
Zimmer Radio Group General Manager Larry Boyd said having the
Lions on Zimmer airwaves is something that is a priority for
them.
“We’re very happy that Zimmer Radio will continue
to serve as the Voice of MSSU Athletics. This year marks a new
chapter in our broadcasting history with the move to Big Dog
97.9FM. Zimmer Radio looks forward to our continuing
partnership with MSSU and to helping the Lions maintain their
athletic reputation in the region.”
All Lions football broadcasts will begin with the Joplin
Regional Airport Countdown to Kickoff Show, an hour-long program
leading up to each game and will wrap up with the Club 609 Postgame
Report.
Zimmer Radio Group will also sponsor a tailgate party prior to
all home football games. The tailgate party is open to the
public and will again be located in front of the stadium near
Touchdown Alley, the Lions free interactive kids zone. Both
the Zimmer Tailgate Party and Touchdown Alley open two hours prior
to kickoff.
